Project Description

The objective of this project was to set up the Sports college initiative - community primary liaison programme and school sport co-ordinator's programme.


Aim

Increase access, opportunity and provision in physical education and sport to increase participation rates.

Target Groups

11-18 year olds (secondary), 5-11 year olds (primary) as well as the wider community.

Project Outcomes

Audits are taken to ensure that a good system of performance measurement is in place. Since the project started in 200- there have been noticeable changes especially in:

  • Higher quality and more coaches
  • Participation rates
  • Decreased obesity
  • Reduction in crime

All this helps to increase educational attainment and the quality of life in the rural community.

Project Costs

£20,000 per year jointly provided by sports college and school sports co-ordinator funding.
